Who we are
Art Fairs is a Spanish company and promoter of art fairs and cultural events. Since 2009 we have organised the fairs MADRIDFOTO (International Photography fair, 4 editions in Madrid), JUSTMAD (International Emerging Art Fair, 11 editions in Madrid), JUSTMADMIA (International Emerging Art Fair of Miami, 1 edition in Miami) and SUMMA (international Fair of Contemporary Art, 3 editions in Madrid).
Art Fairs, with the creation of Just LX, takes another step forward in its strategy for the promotion of art and its appropriate commercialization and internationalization, bringing all its experience and energy to the creation of a very special fair in Lisbon focused on contemporary emerging art, with newly discovered galleries and artists.
Artistic Direction and Curators
Semíramis González (Gijón, 1988) has a degree in Art History from the University of Oviedo and has completed the Master’s in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture at the Reina Sofía Museum, from the Complutense University.
She has curated projects such as «1-600» by Estefanía Martín Sáenz in the Gema Llamazares gallery (Gijón); “Cabestro” by Carol Caicedo in The Guest Room; “In the wild” at the Alcobendas Art Center; the project of young artists “Future Present” in the Sala Amadís within the INJUVE Youth Creation Program; or more recently, “Against the skin”, within the Area 60 program of the TEA (Tenerife), with the works of Gabriela Bettini, Rubén H. Bermúdez, Cristóbal Tabares and Valle Galera.
Hugo Dinis was born 1977, Lisbon, Portugal. He is a graduate of Faculty of Fine-Arts of the University of Lisbon, in Fine-Arts – Painting and in Curatorial Studies, with the cooperation of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon.
Recently he won the Curatorial Award Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar / EGEAC with the project ’Strange recent days in a less than happy times’, will be present in April 2017. 2016 In 2015 he curated ‘I (working titled)’ at Espaço NovoBanco, Lisbon. In 2009 he curated the group exhibition. In 2008, he curated the group exhibition ‘The unbuilding of man’, at Galeria Municipal Paços do Concelho, Doispaços Galeria Municipal and Transforma in Torres Vedras, Portugal, as part of the itinerant project Antena of Serralves Foundation, Oporto, Portugal.
